Legislative Push Toward Safer Campgrounds in Texas
In the wake of the tragic July 4 floods in Kerr County, Texas—which claimed 136 lives, including 44 campers—a new bill (HB 19) has been introduced to toughen safety standards at both public and private RV parks and campgrounds. Key provisions include requiring disaster plans for flood emergencies to be submitted to the state health department, with civil penalties imposed for noncompliance.
