· Our Adventures,Life in Huntsville

On Monday, November 24th, we were lucky enough to go to One Table Huntsville, a free Thanksgiving-style meal held downtown Huntsville, AL at Big Spring Park.

The event, brought to life by Village of Promise, is built on a simple but powerful goal: bring together people from all walks of life — strangers, neighbors and families — around “one meal, one day, one table” for fellowship, unity, and community building.

As soon as we walked up to the event, we were met with friendly smiles and helpful volunteers, and it felt like we were part of something very special.

We met a nice couple, Dave and Grace, who just moved to Huntsville three years ago from New York. We all laughed about how we don't miss the stress and winter weather of the North. We found out that we have very similar "day-date" traditions, They go to Cinemark movie theater on Tuesday, just like us.

Kirsten met Erica and had great conversation as they both took part in the "Promise Activity," which involved writing down a promise for the next year and putting it on the table for everyone to see. It was a small moment, but it meant a lot: a real sign of hope, purpose, and community.

Meanwhile, Mack was interviewed by the Village of Promise about what makes Huntsville special.

Chef Allen Noble catered the meal, which was very good. The spread was big, had a lot of different options (yes, even vegan ones!), was fresh, and made you feel good. We talked, ate, and smiled. It was a real community.

The day was perfect bright sunshine overhead, good vibes all around. Mack was able to get in a game of cornhole with some of the young men at the event. Everywhere you looked: families chatting, kids laughing, folks making connections. It was lively, bright, and full of heart.

We came expecting just to meet new people and have a meal, what we found was a sense of unity, connection, and genuine kindness. People from all walks of life gathered around one long table, enjoying live music, sharing food, stories, laughter, and hope.

Meeting and having authentic conversation with Jaymes Moody (the CEO of Village of Promise, who hosted the event) and seeing firsthand the effort behind organizing something so inclusive and meaningful, left a deep impression on us.

We found this no cost event to be filled with good food, good people, and a kind of connection and community that's rare these days.

Grateful doesn’t quite cover it! We’re inspired, refreshed, and reminded of why we love sharing our journey.

We are blessed to have planted ourselves in Huntsville, AL where we have become a part of a community that cares!
