We departed Hattiesburg, Mississippi on Saturday, September 25th for a short 139 mile drive to Vidalia, LA.  Vidalia sits on the Louisiana side of the Mississippi River with the city of Natchez on the Mississippi side.  

We stayed at River View RV Park & Resort for 2 nights.  We had a nice pull through spot #119 and we could see the Mississip River from our site.

Mississippi Riverwalk - Port of Dubuque Walkway is accessible from the RV park. The Mississippi Riverwalk is a 1/2 mile long walkway along the Mississippi riverbank in the Port of Dubuque. It runs from the Ice Harbor in the south to the Dubuque Rail Bridge and Alliant Energy Amphitheater in the north. The walkway is situated atop Dubuque's flood wall and provides excellent views of both the Mississippi River and Downtown Dubuque. It includes the American Trust Pavilion, benches, and numerous informational displays detailing the history of the Port of Dubuque.

 The walkway is well lit and the surface is great for biking or walking.

The park has a pool and hot tub, laundry facility, store, horshoe ring and benches, gazebos  throughout the park. Views of the Mississippi river can be seen from various locations in the RV Park.

We took a trip across the bridge to Natchez, MS and stopped at the Natchez Visitors Center where we learned about the Forks of the Roads Slave Market. The Forks of the Road site was one of the largest slave market in the United States.  We also visited the location of the Natchez Burning known as the Rhythm Club Fire, it occurred in  Natchez, Mississippi, on April 23, 1940. Those who died in the Rhythm Club dance hall in Natchez were all African American.  

We were disappointed to find that because it was Sunday the Natchez African American History Museum was closed.

We enjoyed a soul food lunch at the Rolling River  Reloaded Restaurant.  We forgot to take pictures (sorry but it was delicious) of the awesome Sunday Buffet that consisted of fried chicken, fish, grits, greens, mac n cheese, salad, sweet potatoes and more.  

The restaurant had the feel of being at your Granny's house. The service was excellent our server spent a lot of time with us sharing the history of the city. We had fun conversation with other customers while watching football on a big screen.

We did make a trip to Walmart in Vildalia, LA, we don't recommend it the shelves were pretty empty and the store needs updated and is not well maintained.

The morning we left we were awaken by a large boom and the whole park lost electricity.  We are thinking that a transformer in the area my have blown. 

The local sheriff makes a trip through the park about once every 2 hours which is a bit comforting to know there is security.

We enjoyed our stay at River View RV Park and Resort.
