This is Part 2 of our Life Lessons from RV Living series, where we’re sharing the small but mighty lessons we learned during our time on the road.
Let’s talk about space.
When you live in a 24-foot Class C RV, you become very aware of every inch you own. Storage isn’t just precious—it’s survival. You learn the art of stacking, downsizing, and getting creative. A single cabinet might hold kitchen gadgets, board games, and winter hats all at once. The bathroom? Let’s just say counter space was a fantasy and showers felt more like gym locker rooms than spa retreats.
Now, in this house, we’ve got more storage than a little bit. Six closets, drawers, cabinet a garage shelves and even an outside storage room. Everywhere we turn there’s an empty shelf calling our name (fill me... fill me). But here’s the thing: we do not plan to fill it. RV life taught us that just because you have space doesn’t mean you need to clutter it.
That said, we can’t deny that having more room in certain areas makes us wanna shout for joy. The bathroom alone is a game changer—the shower gives us space to stretch without bumping the rattling doors, and the counter space? Let’s just say it’s already lent itself to some great meals, because chopping veggies on a roomy counter feels like a blessing after years of balancing cutting boards on tiny RV surfaces. Not to mention we now have space to use more than 1 kitchen at a time.
Here’s the challenge we’ll leave with you: take a look at the space you have. Is it filled to the brim with things you don’t use, need or enjoy? Has your storage turned into a hiding place for clutter instead of a tool for freedom? RV living taught us that space is about how you use it, not how much of it you have.
Sometimes less really is more—because empty space can feel just as rich as filled space when it leaves you room to breathe, move, and live fully.
Stay tuned for Part 3 of our Life Lessons from RV Living series—where we’ll dive into how power (yes, electricity!) changes your perspective.
