Life Lessons from RV Living:

Part 1 – The Simple Joy of Hot Water

September 16, 2025

This week we are kicking off a new 4-part series called “Life Lessons from RV Living.” After spending 5.5 years on the road in Big Baby our 24-foot Class C home-on-wheels, we’ve walked away with more than just great memories, we’ve gained a deep appreciation for the simple joys of everyday life. Things that many folks never give a second thought to, we now see as luxuries.

And lesson number one? Hot water.

Living in an RV meant waiting for the water to heat up, remembering to switch the hot water tank on and off, and never forgetting that our supply was limited. Long showers? Nope. You learned the art of the Navy shower—rinse, soap, rinse—and hoped the tank didn’t run cold on you halfway through your shower.

And now look at us living in a house once again, where hot water flows instantly and endlessly. And let me tell you something this water isn’t just warm, it’s HOT! The kind of heat that makes you linger in the shower just because you can. No waiting.

RV life taught us patience and conservation, but it also left us with a lasting gratitude for life’s simple comforts. Now, every hot shower and every sink full of suds feels like a blessing.

So here’s to lesson one: never underestimate the power of hot water to remind you just how good life really is.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of our Life Lessons from RV Living series—we’re just getting started.
